We all spend a large percentage of our days online, whether it be for work or play. However whilst in this digital environment how often do we check in with how we are feeling or spend a moment questioning the data we are observing?
The dark side of technology and the pitfalls of social media can be seen all over the press, and while advice on how to support yourself is available, we do not always follow that advice. And as we all know this years social media trend may be outdated come next year, and with it the guidance and strategies we put in place.
Here at Pause Now we approach this problem differently. We are not looking at the technology which is ever changing and for a large part helpful within our lives, we are looking at mindfulness practices and how they can support us within this environment, as a baseline no matter what technology is in vogue.
My research shows that those with a mindfulness practice are far more critical online and far more aware of the issues around the content they are viewing.
Our aim is to teach such techniques with the aim of making individuals more aware when online. And as my research has shown, through this, less likely to spend time online and to engage in a way which supports individuals wellbeing.
